Profile & Business Background

X-Air Australia was established in July 1998 with the importation of two aircraft to Mudgee in Central NSW. One aircraft was sold to the Mudgee District Sport Aviation Club (MDSAC) as a club aircraft (and is still flying today) and the other used for evaluation and demonstration by X-Air Australia. In the early days it was very difficult to get aircraft like the X-Air registered in Australia because of the certification laws but we managed to fly the original aircraft on a permit until the introduction of the Amateur Built Category in 1999.

Sales took-off as the aircraft was seen at Airshows and reviewed by the aviation media. The X-Air is now one of the most popular aircraft nationally with over 100 aircraft flying the skies of Australia. Aircraft are now spread throughout Australasia and are located on the east coast from Cairns in the north to the southern parts of Tasmania in the south, from New Zealand in the East to Perth in the West and we even have aircraft flying in many parts of Indonesia.

X-Air Australia was established  by Michael Coates as one of several business he operated in Mudgee, in February 2000 the photographic and sign/graphic arts divisions were sold off and Michael and family moved to Queensland's Gold Coast to concentrate solely on the X-Air business, within weeks a factory complex was purchased and fitted out with a workshop, stores and aircraft assembly area.

Today X-Air Australia directly imports from the manufacturer and handles sales, service and spares throughout the Australia, New Zealand and Asia regions.
